Boston Dynamics is a United States based engineering and robotics firm famous for its exciting robot designs. The videos released by Boston Dynamics are fascinating to watch, as their robots are almost 10 years ahead of their competitors. This time, Boston Dynamics have come up with a warehouse robot.
Boston Dynamics calls this new robot Handle, and it speaks for its agility. It is an upgraded version of the model that was debuted by the company first in 2017. Having wheels at the end, it balances itself on two legs. It can easily roll down staircases and can leap into the air, which shows that it is flexible to perform a range of tasks. The purpose of this robot is entirely different and presents a threat to manual labor. It will not only render your time but also provide you with an economical solution for the warehouse work.
Stacking regular-sized boxes is an easier task for Handle. It combines speed with precision. A vision system is installed on top of the neck-arm. It has been specifically designed to allow it to automatically pick boxes through a grid of vacuum suction cups and then put them on pallets. The Handle’s bi-pedal design enables it to balance out boxes as heavy as 33 pounds (15 kgs). The current version of Handle allows it to work with pallets that are 69 inches (1.7 m) tall, and 48 inches (1.2 m) deep.
It would be really great to see the Handle in commercial operation, and gauge its performance.
