Hong Kong based architectural firm constructed a stunning suite out of shipping containers

Shipping Container Houses are probably the most flexible yet convenient form of construction. With the use of mere 4 to 6 shipping containers, architects at Hong Kong based architectural firm ‘A Work of Substance’ can now construct any building according to the requirement. According to the company, the initiative let them put their dreams in work with the help of Chinese logistics company Goodman Westlink who commissioned this project. They work with finely financed timber cladding and steel-framed glass feature walls. They give the suit a practical and spacious look with wide window frames fusing its exterior look with its overall captivity.

According to a worker at Goodman Westlink, ‘The layering of timber and glass softens the features of an inherently industrial product, establishing harmony amongst nature whilst bringing in light and tropical backdrops into the space.’ The suit is built by placing three containers at the bottom and a fourth one at the top. They add another fifth container next to the fourth and turn it into a large terrace. The lower ones, however, are kept slightly raised from the ground so they do not blemish from the moisture. The containers are always arranged according to the flexibility of the site at hand, they do not always arrange the same way as mentioned. One of the many reasons this tactical initiative proves to serve more flexibility with respect to construction than ever.

Considering the current stance of our planet in terms of its degrading biotic resources, working with already constructed stainless steel in order to construct the required suits and offices is a call from the future. The building is made at 192 sq m(2,067 sq ft) area keeping it precise yet holds all the essentials of living, a tiny kitchenette under the staircase, a boardroom at the upper level to which there is an attached terrace, hidden washroom within the suit.

In addition to this, the lower panel is designed in such a way that it could be used to hold ballroom meetings and parties which can be compartmentalized using efficiently built sliding doors. The part that really sells the entire marketing of this construction is that the whole suit can be packed down and transported whenever required.
