This artist makes iconic buildings of the world pop out of his 3D sketches
Art is seen as a work of illusion but Italian artist Pietro Cataudella knows the magic of blending it with reality pretty seamlessly. Cataudella creates 3D sketches of famous landmarks across the globe in his pop-up book for his project “CityLiveSketch”. The artist then holds up the sketch, lines it up with the actual architectural structure, captures a photograph and then digitally manipulates it to make it look as unified as possible.
The artist started off with Sicily and eventually progressed towards other iconic countries of Europe. His project sports 3D depictions of renowned places such as Tower Bridge in London and Eiffel Tower in Paris. Talking about his journey and the project, Cataudella says, “The project is a combination of my passions for drawing, photography and travel. The goal is to show beauty in a different way, using only my skills, creativity and imagination. I never studied illustration, architecture, or other related disciplines, my works are the result of hard work, passion and desire to improve myself.”
