In Tenta’s DROP Box micro cabin can be shipped and installed anywhere you want

You can now officially carry around your house, wherever you go. In Tenta, a Spanish architectural studio, came up with a modern tiny house that can be relocated as per your wish. Known as the DROP Box N-240, this little wonder can be readily transported and popped up wherever you want in the form of a little house or suite.

The cabin has overall dimensions of 6.6 x 2.4 x 2.8 metres (L x W x H) and covers an area of 18.5 square metres. For the ease of the user, it is manufactured off-site and then transported through a container or even a trailer to the chosen site. The base is kept above ground to make sure that the impacts and the consequent damage is kept minimal. An additional feature includes the possibility of including steel bars to give it a treehouse like effect.

“Designed to have little to no impact on the natural ecological environment, DROP Box N-240 is designed to be placed in a natural spot, and easily removed without any ecological damage as a consequence of its presence,” Marta Gordillo, designer architect at In Tenta states. “The aim of the modular suites is to meet the growing demand for eco-tourism with customers that like traveling but don’t want to stay in common hotels and demand sustainable architecture mixed with quality design.”

The DROP Box N-240 is manufactured to suit the environmental needs by using sustainable and renewable materials. Each of these houses are essentially made up of a wooden frame, laminated wood beans and thermal fiberglass insulation. The roof of the house is made out of steel sheets that are trapezoidal and have an inner lining of wooden groove planks. The trapezoidal shape allows maximum inlet of sunlight into the house. The customer has the choice of picking larch wood panels or cement-wood composite panels as the exterior of the house. Advantage of the composite panel is that it is weather resistant and is available in a variety of colors.

“The main material is wood, a renewable and sustainable building material that requires less energy to produce, extract, manufacture and transport than other common building materials,” says Gordillo. “This natural material offers a solution for both environmentally conscious use and warm modern interior design.”

Additionally, one can purchase the larger family friendly version which can accommodate a couple or even a family of four. Each of these modules can be sent on the designated site and are furnished completely with a kitchen, a living are including a sofa bed, a bathroom which includes a shower and a toilet and a bedroom with a terrace that opens up to an exquisite view.

The house also includes a lot of compact space saving features like the built in cupboards and shelves, a storage area underneath the bed and an extra sofa bed for guests. The prices of the DROP Box N-240 are yet to be announced but it is surely a feature that is hard to miss out on!
