Jaguar Vector Racing sets new maritime electric world speed record

Jaguar Vector Racing 20E just beat the world record for the fastest battery-powered boat. On 15th June, Jaguar Vector co-founder and technical director, Peter Dredge, operated this beast at an average speed of 142.6 km/hr which is 19 km/hr more than the previous world record. We believe that this model has paved the pathway for greater advancements in the field of electric propulsion on water.

In collaboration with Williams Advanced Engineering, Jaguar Vector created this electric boat by using Formula E technology. Malcolm Crease, CEO of Jaguar Vector Racing, said “”After 12 months of hard work, this is a fantastic result for the team and our partners and a great first step in bringing the power and versatility of electrification to the marine industry. It is a great honor for the Vector team to follow in the footsteps of Donald Campbell CBE and to set a world record on the historic Coniston Water.”

Coming towards the specifications of this boat, it uses two Yasa electric motors which are powered by batteries that weigh 320 kg and provide 220kW. The electric power, control systems and motor for the boat were provided by Williams. Even though this powerboat has earned the title of world’s fastest electric boat, the team is all set to beat national as well as international records in the next one and a half year!
