Seagate Seven: World’s Slimmest Portable Hard Disk You’ll Ever See

Two competitions; world’s tallest for buildings and world’s slimmest for devices don’t seem to end any time soon.

Seagate debuted its newest portable hard disk The Seagate Seven at the CES 2015, what is claimed to be the world’s slimmest. The launch of Seagate Seven commemorated the 35th anniversary of Seagate’s ST-506, the world’s first mass-produced 5.25-inch desktop hard drive that was built back in 1980 with a storage space of just 5MB.

The Seven in the name represents the fact that Seagate Seven measures only 7mm thick making it 0.1 mm slimmer than the Apple’s ultra slim iPhone 6 Plus. With its compact design Seagate managed to fit in physical platters that are capable of delivering 500GB of storage space. The HDD also comes with the robust USB 3.0 connectivity and is based upon the Angsana drive. At the top of other features, the shiny steel body makes it an absolute attraction.

Seagate Seven will be up for sale from mid to late January onward at a price of $99.99.
