These intricate patterns on Iranian mosques will blow your mind away

Iran is known for its oil reserves and these days, has fallen victim to several vilified political agendas however; take us seriously when we say that the nation should be famous for something else entirely! Photographer Fatemeh Hosein Aghaei shows us the rather obscure side of Iran by capturing its breathtakingly beautiful historic architecture.

Aghaei is especially pulled by Isfahan, an Iranian city situated 250 miles south of Tehran. The city is filled with architecture that pays ode to the Perso-Islamic culture of Iran. Whether it is something as majestic as a palace, or as sacred as a mosque or even something as ordinary as a bridge or a boulevard, every structure in Isfahan is adorned with gorgeous intricate patterns that would blow away your mind. Most of Aghaei’s frames look upwards hence, capturing the convoluted yet complex designs on the domes and arches of the mosques and palaces against the blue sky of Iran. Go through these photographs to immerse yourself in these glorious patterns!
